Another ballgame

My nieces got to go to a second game. Let me just say it's only fun once. They were not as well behaved this time. They still had a good time and I really do want them to grow up loving baseball.

Audrey told me, "Yup, baseball makes me smile because it's awesome."

They just had to take pictures with the big baseballs.

Getting Zoey to not have a cheesy grin on her face is almost impossible.

Connie Mack World Series

This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the Connie Mack World Series. It was also my nieces first baseball game. The girls loved the game and even got some of the players to sign their baseballs. One of the kids who signed the balls has already been picked up by the Detroit Tigers.

Audrey is quite the funny girl.

This is Mack the Connie Mack mascot. The girls were so excited to have him sign their baseballs.

Homemade Mint Ice Cream

I found an awesome recipe for homemade mint chocolate chip ice cream. Even better was that it used fresh mint leaves and I have tons in my herb garden. I found the recipe on The Kitchn.

First I had to harvest my chocolate mint leaves and wash them.

Then I had to snip off all the undamaged leaves. This took a long time.

After gathering all my ingredients and heating them up, I bruised the mint leaves and tossed them into the cream to steep for 4 hours

Once the liquid was cool I strained out the leaves and reheated the liquid. Then had to chill it again. Finally I got to pour it into the ice cream maker.

Half about 30 minutes it was time to pour in the chocolate chips.

Ahhh!!!!! The finished product. Very tasty!!!!!

Princess Crocheted Blanket Project

I have three nieces who love princesses. So along with the superhero I already made I am making 3 princess blankets. Yes I am crazy. I had to make all the patterns and it took me a while to finally decide on the ones I liked enough to use. Below I will post all the patterns I have created and hopefully the pictures of the squares I have finished so far. I am hoping to be finished with the last half of the squares within the next month or so.

First off here is the pattern I made my oldest niece for Christmas last year. This pattern is pretty much what started all the crazy mess in my life.

Brave
I wish I had added a top row of the background color. It would have looked a little better.

Now here are my princess patterns. They are my creations and are free to use. I have no affiliation with Disney.

Ariel
Sleeping Beauty

 Beauty and the Beast
 Cinderella
Frozen
Merida (I apologize for the numbers on her face. I didn't realize I hadn't deleted them when I converted the file.)
Mulan (Again my apologies for the numbers on her face.)

Pocahontas
Rapunzel
Snow White

 Tiana
Yes there are supposed to be 12 patterns all together, but my Jasmine pattern has mysteriously disappeared. When I find it I will post it.

Now for pictures of the finished squares.

Superhero Crocheted Blanket

After having a great success with the Christmas presents I made for my niece and nephew their father informed me that they needed blankets to go with the pillows I made them. I made my nephew Scott a pillow with one side being Captain America's shield and the other side looking like Iron Man. I told my brother there was no way I was making blankets. I think I meant it when I said it. And yet, it turned out that was not the case. I found an awesome website The Happy Hooker Blog. The lady had a lot of Marvel and DC hero logos already graphed out and for free. But to make a decent sized blanket I had to create a few patterns myself.

So here is the finished top For Scotty's Christmas present this year. I am seriously happy with how it turned out.

I ended up creating four more patterns to finish off my blanket. I did Hawkeye, Black Widow, S.H.I.E.L.D. and a different Spiderman. The patterns are the same size as the ones from the Happy Hooker Blog (50x50).

Hawkeye

Black Widow

Spiderman

 S.H.I.E.L.D.
I did them all using tunisian crochet. The only downfall to that method is that I have to back the blanket. I don't quilt. But I managed.

Please feel free to using these patterns. But remember that they are free for use so do not sell them. I have no affiliation with Marvel Comics. These are just my interpretations of these superhero logos.
